Terms of engagement.
1 · What the Bureau is
The Classic Bureau is a concierge for classic motor cars. We do not own the vehicles you may purchase through our introductions. We do not lend money. We do not underwrite insurance policies. We are an introducer, a record-keeper, and an editorial voice — not a principal counterparty to any transaction.
2 · What the Register is
The Register at /register is a curated, attributed index of pre-1996 classic motor cars currently listed publicly on third-party marketplaces. Each entry links to the original source. We are not the seller. Where a folio is marked SAMPLE, it is illustrative content used to demonstrate the surface of the Register while the live data corpus reaches statistical depth — never relied upon as an actual offer.
3 · What the Advisory is
The Advisory at /advisory provides indicative, educational tools — a three-band valuation, a finance calculator, and a comparative market analysis. None of these outputs constitute an appraisal, a quote, a guarantee, financial advice, investment advice, or tax advice. They are thinking tools and are stated as such on every tool page. Reliance on these outputs for insurance, lending, or tax purposes without independent professional assessment is at the user's own risk.
4 · Engagement basis
The Bureau is paid by referral commission from partners — never by the client we are introducing. There is no retainer. There is no obligation to proceed. The first conversation is private and complimentary. We disclose any commercial relationship at the moment an introduction is made.
5 · Limitations on liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law in both South Africa and the United Kingdom, the Bureau is not liable for:
- The condition, provenance, or representations of any vehicle listed on the Register, which remain the responsibility of the seller listed at the source URL.
- The terms or outcome of any finance or insurance product offered by a partner we introduce — those are governed by the partner's own regulated terms.
- Indirect, consequential, or speculative losses arising from reliance on Advisory tool outputs in isolation from independent professional advice.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
6 · Intellectual property
The Bureau's editorial content — including the Journal, the methodology notes, and the brand marks (the wordmark, the colour palette, the typographic system) — is © The Classic Bureau (Pty) Ltd 2026 unless otherwise attributed. Listing images on the Register remain the property of the originating source; we link out, we do not rehost in full resolution. See takedown for our removal procedure.
7 · Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Subject to the parties' rights to seek injunctive relief in any competent court, all disputes are referred to the High Court of South Africa, Western Cape Division, Cape Town. UK-resident clients retain the protections of mandatory consumer law in their place of residence.
8 · Changes to these terms
We may amend these terms from time to time. The version in force is always the one available at this URL. Material changes are dated above and, where they affect an active engagement, communicated directly.
9 · Contact
Correspondence on terms: [email protected]. Telephone: +27 21 000 0000, by appointment.
